About the Artwork

Tides Rising is my first attempt to capture the vibrancy, colour and depth of the ocean's waves using gouache (which is similar to watercolour) on paper. I loved trying a looser, quicker style of work that I hope conveys gentleness and peace as this piece was created at a 'Breath' event at Annandale Creative Arts Centre (ACAC) during the COVID uncertainty circa 2021. I love the depth of colour that the gouache is able to convey and that the blue specks actually make it look like you're staring out into the ocean. I hope for those in a time of uncertainty can find a calming rhythmic peace from the sound and the sight of the waves that comes from the ocean.
